Women's Audio Mission

Women’s Audio Mission (WAM) is a San Francisco-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and professional recording studio that is dedicated to the advancement of women in music production and the recording arts, a field in which women are critically under-represented (less than 5%). WAM is changing the face of sound by providing women and girls with access to and training in music production and the techniques and technology used in the recording arts.

The WAM studio is the only professional recording studio run and operated entirely by women in the world, voted "Best of the Bay" by the San Francisco Bay Guardian in 2012. WAM has recorded and produced award-winning recordings by: Angelique Kidjo (2014 Grammy winner), author Salman Rushdie, Grammy-winning Kronos Quartet, the Academy Award-nominated soundtrack to “Dirty Wars”, and Van-Ahn Vo (NPR’s top 50 albums of 2013).
